Being the first UK show American Head Charge has played since their reformation, it was always going to be hard to tell whether this show was going to be a hit or a flop and in all honesty, the support to the show didn’t give much promise, Maplerun and RSJ were pretty unknown and far from impressive, both heavy but far from musically impressive or had any form of crowd flair going on.
Surrey 4 piece, Canterbury, have announced the track listing for their long awaited 3rd album - ‘Dark Days’.

One word, CRUSHING! From start to finish this is relentless, the UK 5-piece have in no way released anything “original”, though I will not say that is a bad thing, much influenced by the sounds of The Ghost Inside, Parkway Drive and Confession, with their beastly melodic hardcore/metalcore. Though unlike a lot of bands that try this, you can definitely sense the emotion in this album other than just the talent. Every track is a monolith of aggression and rhythm to make you want to destroy your surroundings, with that added lead guitar in places to really give the song that extra bit of feeling. I will say Renew/Reform is where High Hopes have really captured themselves best, all of the above, crushing riffs, catchy shout along chorus, intense and fast paced and enough emotion to make you lose your voice. After this I can only expect bigger and better things to come from High Hopes.
Self Revival was released on November 11th on Core Records

Mallory Knox have been going from strength to strength in the last year or so. Going from playing support slots in tiny venues, to main stage appearances at some of the UKs most prominent festivals, it’s certainly been a whirlwind. Tonight marks the start of their biggest headline tour today, with a string of sold out appearances. Being the first night just adds to the anticipation for tonight, with Norwich being about the closest the tour comes to a hometown show for the MK boys.

Blue October has fallen off the mainstream radar for a long while since “Hate Me” and “Into the Ocean”. The band’s seventh album, Sway, unfortunately explains their decline in relevance since 2006. Opening with “Breathe, It’s Over”, Blue October throws the listener into a lugubrious state. With such a powerful intro, it seemed like the band was making an actual album, and not just songs to put on a record. The melancholy, whimsical tune of the title track, “Sway” seemingly paves the way for the rest of what one would hope to be a unique, exceptional album. After the standout fifth and sixth tracks, “Debris” and “Fear”, the album steadily declines. Generic tracks take over until the record is over. “Put It In” is almost laughable. I believe one can figure out the reasons behind that. Blue October’s Sway is good for those riding the emotional roller coasters we all know and love as breakups, but any alternative rock fan can skip the rest after track seven.
After years of honing their sound & searching for the ideal line-up, the boundary bothering Centiment finally unleash their debut album Streets of Rage early 2014.
In an age of excessive genre definitions Centiment are truly hard to categorise & rightfully so. A bastard hybrid mix of insane metal, frantic vocals spanning sweet melodies, demonic screams of urgency & everything in-between plus a military-tight rhythm section.
